Kohler New Zealand Ltd, manufacturers of Englefield bathroomware responded to the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that struck Christchurch on February 22nd, at 12.51pm.

A massive mobile shower unit were deployed from its Auckland head office, giving residents and rescue teams a chance to clean off. Housed within a 14-metre trailer, the unit contained 14 showers and enough water and power to provide 170 showers per hour. The mobile shower were sent to communities that did not have running water, providing relief for at least six weeks..

John Bourke, managing director for Kohler NZ, said: 'We discussed the best way we could help and decided people living without power or water would really appreciate having a hot shower. The Englefield mobile shower will be able to go to the worst affected part of town.'

Kohler Power Systems also jumped at the chance to help, donating the power generation system that keeps the showers running.

Many thanks to our Kohler New Zealand team and the countless other volunteers who helped out in this time of need.
